While Walking Around Greece...

There were fresh footsteps in the sand...
Footsteps captured by sand so perfectly show our pauses and motions in life.
The girl had stopped (two foot imprints together),
maybe to look out at the sea,
maybe to watch the water as it gathered around her toes and to sink her feet into the sand.
But now she is moving forward again,
ready to go where ever,
her footsteps (i.e.God) might take her.

The World's Greatest People (Dear Welcoming Lady...)

Dear welcoming lady...
Warming herself by her 100 year old fireplace...

So often we discover some of the world's greatest people
in the most unexpected places.
This is how it was with this dear lady.
One of the world's greatest...
living in a remote Greek mountain village,
caring for all who knocked on her door,
as if they were the most important
person in the world.

Sunset over the Ionian Sea

I happened upon this beautiful sunset.
You can't see it,
the sea is covering it,
but the ruins of an ancient port
sits silently below these still waters.
Only the little islands in the close distance,
and (for some reason!) the squawking of the birds
seem to give some indication
 of the ancient ports existence.

Athens last winter...

This was taken from the rooftop of a building in the Old Town of Athens last winter.
I love the combination of history represented in this photo - Ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Neoclassical
and up against the mountain in the distance, modern. It's the indigenous history of this polis- found everywhere one looks - that makes it a city I respect and appreciate .

While Walking Around Greece...

I turned a corner in Athens...
...and look at this gorgeous road filled
with refurbished neoclassical homes that greeted me!
Happy Walking!
